Travelling to Guangzhou China

When Mr Pocoyo was 9 months old, we took him along with us to China for business trip. We were there for a week and we entered China through Shenzhen Airport from KKIA.

It was pretty challenging as we had to reach Guangzhou by speed train from Shenzhen. It was because of we had a meeting in Shenzhen in the afternoon and headed to Guangzhou in the evening.

My baby looking at the receptionist, he loves the counter top.

The only baby in the meeting room ❤
one of the primary school in Shenzhen, so nice compared to most of the schools in Sabah

So after lunch we headed to Guangzhou by speed train. Journey was smooth, our friends took us to the train station. I was so glad.
Lihua Hotel, we stayed here.

It was so much fun to explore the places around Lihua Hotel as crossing bridges are everywhere, very safe. We bumped into a man who tried to sell the hotel rooms (the illegal middle man), we told nicely that we already booked in advance, LOL. You can see few illegal reseller by the bridge, I think that it was because of Guangzhou's most convenient hotels are always fully booked. I don't want to complain about the illegal middle men at the bridge because I personally feel that they're better than a beggar. I'm not sure.

Frustrated. He failed to climb up to the bed.

You shopping here die-die with  Lady Gaga's Bad Romance played out loud on the air but none of the shop owners or shop assistants can speak English.. hahaha .. But it is a shopping heaven too, no one will laugh if you speak lousy mandarin here Syiok!! Very Syioook!!

The Shopping Place

Beautiful City

It's not really hard to get a food nearby our hotel because McD is in the same building. Besides that, eateries are everywhere too. I was so glad too because at the underground of the hotel that we stayed, there's a food court where Teo Chew porridge was available. Suitable for babies :D

Early morning at Guangzhou train Station before we headed back to Shenzhen. It was 7am +
The weather was cold and windy when we were in Guangzhou, it was like 16 deg C, windy made it colder.
The train station is one of the most crowded place in GZ and as you can see behind us, there were thousands of people in and out in the terminal building. It was a rushing morning where we woke up and straight to the train station to take the morning train. Undone hair without make up T_T   T_T
Well, it's okay.. it was fun to travel with a baby, less worry and not missing him :)

Guangzhou is one of the place that I will visit again and again... most of the people are friendly and helpful. When we walked to around the wholesale stores the people were so attentive and they don't force you to buy. I'm not sure if  everyone experienced the same there but so far, it was harmless to ask the price. They didn't show any aggressive approach too.

Travelling with baby was not a familiar scene by the local people here.. or I should say, seeing a baby is something special for them LOL. They always showed the excited feeling when a baby entered their shop. I thought the people were acting hahaha... but I had a chat with the concierge man at the hotel and he said it's because of babies are limited in China, each family only can have one. Some couple who struggles to make a  living choose not to have baby too. Kasian juga oh! Hen ke lian lorrrr..

They were playing in the train, we were heading back to Shenzhen for a night.

We stayed at Shenzhen for a night (nearby the airport) as the flight to Kota Kinabalu was around 11am on the next day. It was by AA.
One of the sweetest pic of them

Daddy and little boy was enjoying the scenery through the hotel window. Now, this baby is no longer as 'tame' as this, he spends half of his day running and Q & A with the mom @_@

It was a good day when we flew back to KK, flight was on time and the customs clearance at the BKI airport was smooth too.

HFMD (HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE)

A father posted this picture on instagram and it made me really sad, it look so severe. As he stated in the comment: "Eva infected with HFMD" It made my both palms up to my face.

My son had HFMD for 3 times. That was in Nov 2011, April 2012 and May 2013. That memories made me speechless to see this picture T_T

Poor Baby Girl :(

When our little boy was 2-year old, we used the daycare service for 5 days a week and on his second month there, he was diagnosed with HFMD. As a first time parents, we couldn't confirm if it was, but the Child Care Specialist (Klinik Dr. Chan Yue Sun) gave us full information. She informed us very well on what to do, what to feed him, recovery progress and etc etc.. After he was fully recovered, I took him to the same daycare and he got it again in April 2012, that was the time when I decided to take care of him ALL by myself, sigh!

After a long break from any fever, suddenly he got it again in May 2013, that was after I took him for playing session at the playground near Likas Stadium. The playground was crowded with kids and we let him to interact with other kids to develop his social skills. Few days after that, he got his 3rd HFMD :*(

Based on my own experience, the HFMD itself is less worrying but the fever that caused by HFMD.
The body temperature can reach more than 41 degree C and if it's higher than that, it can caused brain damage. I guessed that some kids could get 'sawan' because of non-monitored fever. This is solely my assumption after reading some of the 'sawan' experience by other parents.
(Sawan is febrile seizure, also known as a fever fit or febrile convulsion)

MEDICATION: For the HFMD itself, there was no medicine provided by the specialist, my little boy was advice to drink more water, eat more soft food like yogurt or tofu and rest well. No antibiotics too.

Fever control med.  I think that Voltarene 12.5mg is the most important for baby and toddler
who's suffering with HFMD. That's non oral med. You'll need KY Jelly for this (insert thru the anus)
I rescued my son with Voltarene 12.5mg at 2.00am in April 2012. He could end-up blind or deaf or any other bad effect due to his fever which was up to 41.5 degree C (106.7 Fahrenheit). Fever that reach 42degree C could cause brain damage. He was shaking and his voice was almost unheard when he called me, his look was miserable. He didn't cry at all but I did.

After the high fever experience, I always remind my friends who have kids to always standby a fever medicine at home.
Nobody would understand until they gone through a critical time. It's always better to act first before you
take your kids to the emergency department as the journey itself can really jeopardize. Some mother responded that it's not necessary to give any medicine if the baby fever is only 38deg C, but hey.. mind your own kids dude, all I said was "standby", nothing more or less than that, okay!

May 2013, dots on his toes and feet, little puss inside.

April 2012
April 2012 ; He had less spots on his palms and feet but his mouth and throat almost
full with spots, tounge was infected too. I'm sorry if it's too horrific T_T

Thermometer is crucial  (Pic taken in April 2012)

He slept throughout the day. This was in May 2013, his body temperature didn't reach 40 deg this time.
Thanks God.

If you and your partner are first time parents, the info below is very accurate
(Pic Credit to Ministry of Health SG)

Good info by MOH of Singapore.

FYI, Klinik Dr Chan Yue Sun is located in Damai, Kota Kinabalu. She's not a young doctor and it makes her very informative. After years of patronizing her clinic, I can confidently say that she's not like the childcare specialist in SMC or Damai Specialist. Some parents doesn't like her because she looks unfriendly at the first time meeting her but she's actually very kind. I think that she gets impatient with the parents who can't give info like duration of fever, food given to the child or anything related to the child. Anyway, Dr Chan is always nice to every kids, she can make the kids to like her, awesome. We have been her client since our baby was 2 weeks old. I got my annual flu vaccine in the same clinic too.
